The City of Durham's vision was of a "world-class performing arts center" to serve as a home for the performing arts, concerts and special events. With much anticipation, the community's reality will soon be that and more.
Eight years of collective research, planning, and design have brought into focus The Durham Performing Arts Center. A world-class technical team of architects, acousticians, and theater specialists were selected, plans developed, and significant public and private funding secured.
This historic enterprise will contribute to the infrastructure and vitality of the entire Durham region. The economic impact of DPAC is projected to be substantial and serve as a catalyst for continued revitalization and development in Downtown Durham. Opening in December, 2008, DPAC represents a unique opportunity and takes the next step in establishing the region as a place of creative excellence with opportunities for lifelong enrichment through the performing arts.
