Ira David Wood III's “A Christmas Carol” Kicks Off at the Durham Performing Arts Center
One of Raleigh's most beloved Christmas traditions will be featuring during the grand opening month at the new Durham Performing Arts Center. Ira David Wood III's hit musical adaptation of the Charles Dickens classic will run December 5th, 6th, and 7th 2008 for 4 shows at DPAC before commencing its 34th annual run in Raleigh.
Ira David Wood III's A Christmas Carol is the first full scale production selected to be performed in the new Durham Performing Arts Center before the Broadway Carolina Series begins in January 2009.
Theatre In The Park's original musical comedy adaptation of A Christmas Carol based on the book by Charles Dickens and adapted for the stage by Ira David Wood III, has been cited as “one of the most successful shows in North Carolina theatre history”and voted one of “the top 20 events in the Southeast”by the Southeast Tourism Society. A Christmas Carol has become a holiday tradition in the Southeast, and has also enjoyed critically acclaimed tours to England and France.
