Steve Winwood

English singer-songwriter of rock, blues, jazz and more brings his solo tour to DPAC February 9, 2010 for one night only. Winwood is famed as a  multi-instrumentalist who has played organ, guitar, bass and strings through his careers with Spencer Davis Group, Traffic, Blind Faith, and Go.  He has won multiple Grammy Awards and been ranked in Rolling Stones magazine at one of the 100 Greatest Singers of all Time.

Steve Winwood appears to be back in the high life again on the heels of a successful tour and 2 critically acclaimed albums ‘Nine Lives’ and ‘Live from Madison Garden’. ‘Live from Madison Garden’ an album released with former Blind Faith band mate- Eric Clapton- is nominated for two Grammys: ’Best Rock Album’, and ’Best Rock Performance By A Duo Or Group With Vocals’ for the song ’Can’t Find My Way Home’.

Winwood was just a teenager when he rocketed into the international spotlight. With his signature work with the Spencer Davis Group (’Gimme Some Lovin’ ”) to Traffic (’Dear Mr. Fantasy,” ’The Low Spark of High Heeled Boys”), Blind Faith (’Can’t Find My Way Home”) and thirty years of solo ventures (’Higher Love,” ’Roll With It”), Winwood continues creating an era-bridging soundtrack of distinctive artistry.
