The Whispers and Stephanie Mills Concert

April 2nd, 2010 at 8pm

An Evening with Legends featuring The Whispers and Stephanie Mills (brought to you by Graham/Webb Productions) will grace the DPAC stage on April 2, 2010 at 8 p.m. Join us for a night of soulful sounds, skillful musicians and seasoned performances by two of R&B music’s most esteemed artists. The Whispers and Stephanie Mills will bring quality music like it’s supposed to be done, singing all the greatest hits we’ve come to love.

The Whispers, one of R&B music’s most beloved and consistently popular vocal groups, began their legendary and timeless career in 1963. After 40 years in the industry, this multi-platinum, Grammy-nominated quartet boasts two platinum albums, 12 top 20 singles and 40 charted hits since 1970. With such hits as ’Rock Steady,” ’As the Beat Goes On,” ’Lady” and ’In the Mood,” The Whispers have emerged as the leading R&B balladeers of their generation with multiple chart topping albums. The Whispers were acknowledged for four decades of accomplishments by being inducted into the Vocal Group Hall of Fame and presented a Governor’s Award, by the San Francisco Chapter of the Grammy Awards.

Stephanie Mills, with one of the most distinctive voices in contemporary music, the ultra soulful songstress, has distinguished herself as a performer who is just as at home on the Broadway stage as she is in the recording studio. Over the course of her 30 year career, this Grammy award-winning, R&B singer has given us such enduring classics as ’I Have Learned to Respect the Power of Love,” ’Home” and ’Whatcha Gonna Do with My Lovin”. Stephanie’s critically acclaimed appearances in shows like the four-time Tony Award-winning ’The Wiz” and ’Your Arms are Too Short to Box with God” have gained her a loyal following among fans.

Both The Whispers and Stephanie Mills continue to tour, taking their timeless music around the world to thousands of loyal fans.
