Patti LaBelle

Rhythm and blues diva, Patti LaBelle to perform at DPAC, Durham Performing Arts Center on April 15, 2012. This show is presented in partnership with the DOME Group.

Patti LaBelle's illustrious career has spanned over 50 years notching hits in a variety of sounds ranging from classic girl group pop to funk to lush ballads. Born Patricia Holt in Philadelphia on May 24, 1944, she grew up singing in a local Baptist choir. Her hits have included such iconic songs as "Lady Marmalade", "If You Only Knew", "New Attitude", "On My Own" a duet with Michael McDonald. Released in 1991, Burnin' earned a Grammy® for Best Female R&B Performance.

LaBelle was the first African-American act ever to appear at New York's Metropolitan Opera House. She also took a turn at acting, co-starring in the Broadway revival of Your Arms to Short to Box with God, The Patti LaBelle Show and Bruce Almighty to name a few.

LaBelle has written several books including her autobiography, Don't Block the Blessings: Revelations of a Lifetime as well as two cookbooks Recipes for the Good Life and Patti LaBelle's Lite Cuisine. She also sells a line of sauces and seasonings named after her best know hit "Lady Marmalade". For more information please visit
