“We’ve been big fans of Jennifer Nettles ever since Sugarland first hit the charts in 2006.  When she started her solo career we knew we wanted to have her at DPAC.  Country music fans will love seeing this show in DPAC’s intimate 2,700 seat hall, it’s the perfect setting with fantastic acoustics that really let the songs shine,” said Taki Pappas, Director of Programming – Concerts & Comedy at DPAC.

Nettles has racked up over 22 million in worldwide record sales since exploding onto the music scene in 2004, amassing eight #1 hits and countless accolades and awards. She recently embarked as headliner on the “Playing with Fire Tour” with Brandy Clark and Ryan Kinder. She’s also a vocal supporter of females in the industry.

“I always take any opportunity to champion women in music and throughout society at large,” said Nettles. “I am absolutely energized to headline this year's ‘CMT Next Women of Country’ tour and celebrate these exciting artists on the precipice of so much greatness.”

“We are honored to have a superstar headline and curate our second ‘Next Women of Country Tour” said Leslie Fram, SVP of Music Strategy and Talent, CMT. “This will be the year for Jennifer Nettles with new music coming out on Big Machine Label Group. Brandy Clark will release her sophomore album on Warner Brothers Records, Lindsay Ell just premiered her new video on CMT for ‘By The Way,’ and newly signed Tara Thompson has already generated huge buzz for her talents to round out a stellar lineup for our 2016 Tour.”

CMT first launched its “Next Women” campaign in 2013 in an effort to emphasize undiscovered female artists in the male-dominated format. The campaign showcases emerging female artists across screens throughout the year, and several alumnae – Kacey Musgraves, Brandy Clark, Cassadee Pope and Ashley Monroe included – have achieved both commercial and critical acclaim. In 2015, CMT expanded the franchise to include its first-ever female-powered tour featuring Jana Kramer and Kelsea Ballerini.

Named one of CMT’s Next Women of Country, Lindsay Ell is a triple threat:  accomplished musician, unique vocalist and songwriter.  The 26-year-old Calgary native learned to play guitar while traveling with her father to country-bluegrass camps as a young girl.  Ell honed her craft as a musical stylist and songwriter after being discovered by BTO and The Guess Who’s Randy Bachman (“American Woman” / “Taking Care of Business”) who discovered her at the age of 13.  The multi-instrumentalist was soon opening for the likes of Luke Bryan, Buddy Guy, The Band Perry and Keith Urban.  The Stoney Creek Records artist has been called “a true triple threat” by Guitar World; “a star in the making” by Taste of Country; “Your coolest new girl crush” by Teen Vogue; and “a distinct figure in the modern country recording camp” by NASH Country Weekly.  Ell received critical acclaim for her singles “Trippin’ On Us” and “Shut Me Up” including being named one of Rolling Stone’s “10 Artists You Need to Know.”  Ell’s new single, the spirited and up-tempo “By the Way” charged out of the gate as the #1 Most Added song at Country Radio upon its debut.
