A Christmas Carol Returns to DPAC

Raleigh, North Carolina - July 21, 2015 - A Christmas Carol – The Tradition Continues! The hit musical comedy adaptation, now celebrating its 41st anniversary! One of the Triangle’s most beloved Christmas traditions will once again be featured at DPAC this December for five shows only. Ira David Wood III’s hit musical comedy adaptation of the Charles Dickens classic will run December 17th through 20th, 2015 in Durham. Last year’s shows at DPAC sold out, so plan on getting your tickets early.

“Theatre in the Park’s A Christmas Carol has always been the most fun, entertaining, and heartwarming holiday event in the region. As a Triangle native, my family’s annual trip to see this show is one of our favorite Christmas traditions. And we try to guess what the new jokes will be! Since performances expanded to DPAC in 2008, I am thrilled that more fans get to experience Ira David Wood III’s classic story each year,” says DPAC’s Director of Marketing, Emily McLoughlin.

Ira David Wood IV will play the role of Scrooge at the December 19th 2:00 PM matinee.

Theatre In The Park's original musical comedy adaptation of A Christmas Carol, based on the book by Charles Dickens and adapted for the stage by Ira David Wood III, now in its 41st year, has been cited as “one of the most successful shows in North Carolina theatre history” and voted one of “the top 20 events in the Southeast” by the Southeast Tourism Society. In 2010 it was voted best in the Triangle by readers of Triangle Arts and Entertainment. A Christmas Carol has become a holiday tradition in the Southeast, and has also enjoyed critically acclaimed tours to England and France. A Christmas Carol was the first full scale theatrical event staged at DPAC during its opening week in December of 2008. Approximately 30,000 people attend the local production runs in Raleigh and Durham each year.
