Roadrunner Records’ group Dream Theater has announced additional dates added to their fall North American headline tour. The trek, which gets underway October 5th at Bethlehem, PA’s Sands Bethlehem Event Center, will see the pioneering group performing their widely acclaimed double concept album The Astonishing in immersive and interactive settings for a unique and unparalleled live experience. Dream Theater presents "The Astonishing" Live is coming to DPAC on November 27.
Consisting of 34 tracks spread across 2 unique acts, Dream Theater’s new album The Astonishing debuted atop Billboard’s “Rock” and “Hard Rock” album charts, marking the group’s third No. 1 “Hard Rock” album following Black Clouds & Silver Linings and 2013’s self-titled LP. “Even for a group that has blazed new trails consistently, there's never been anything to compare to The Astonishing, the full-blown rock-opera, jumbo-size concept album…Put simply, the new release lives up to its title in every way imaginable,” exclaimed Rolling Stone. The Astonishing is available at all DSPs (http://flyt.it/DTTheAstonishing) and in a wide range of distinctive versions, including standard 2-CD set, 4-LP vinyl box set and a limited edition deluxe box set, all of which are currently available via Dream Theater’s webstore (http://flyt.it/DTTheAstonishingStore).
Recorded at Cove City Sound Studios in Glen Cove, New York, with John Petrucci producing, studio luminary Richard Chycki (Aerosmith, Rush) engineering/mixing and legendary arranger, composer and conductor David Campbell orchestrating, The Astonishing paints a tale of a retro-futurist post-apocalyptic dystopia ruled by medieval style feudalism. It’s a place aching for a Chosen One to rise above the noise and defeat an Empire defined by the endless drone of noise machines and the illusion of safety in bland musical conformity.
The Astonishing follows 2013’s worldwide smash album “DREAM THEATER,” which earned a second Grammy nomination for the band, topping Billboard’s “Hard Rock Albums” while simultaneously entering at #7 on the Billboard 200. The extraordinary chart position marked the group’s third consecutive top 10 debut, and also saw "DREAM THEATER" making top 5 chart debuts in Japan, Germany, Italy, Canada, Argentina, Switzerland, Holland, and Finland, as well as top 10 debuts in Denmark, Austria, and Norway, with career high debuts in the United Kingdom and Australia. Rolling Stone touted the legendary collection as “…the birth of a new era in the band’s career.”

For many concert, comedy, and special events at DPAC, we offer added views of the stage with two big screens (size: 16’ x 9’) hung to the sides of the stage or above the stage. These big screens can add to the visual experience of our concert, comedy, and special events and give guests seated farther from the stage what we like to call “a tenth row view”. Approval to use these screens always rests with the visiting show and about half of all concert and comedy events do use these screens.
