DPAC Becomes First Performing Arts Center in the Carolinas to Utilize this Convenient Technology

November 10, 2009 – DPAC, Durham Performing Arts Center is pleased to announce the installation of an outdoor Ticketmaster transactional kiosk outside the DPAC Ticket Center. The self-service kiosk will be operational 24 hours-a-day for ticket sales and Will Call pick-up, and is the first of its kind at any performing arts center in the Carolinas.

“The kiosk indicates another step in DPAC’s effort to maintain the highest levels of customer service for our patrons," said Bob Klaus, general manager of DPAC. “Customers will be able to take advantage of purchasing tickets when regular ticket center hours are closed. From shorter lines at the ticket center window to helping expedite the entry process at the door, our ticket holders will be the real beneficiaries of this new technology."

Featuring touch-screen technology and a printer with instant ticket production capabilities, the Ticketmaster kiosk enable users to make advance purchases 24 hours-a-day and pick-up tickets already purchased without standing in a Will Call line.

"Convenience and ease of use are the signature features of the new kiosk," said Rik Knopp, Mid-Atlantic General Manager for Ticketmaster. "DPAC makes the most sense for this technology because it is one of the premiere destinations for Broadway, concerts and comedy in the Carolinas, and through our partnership with DPAC we’re able to further enhance the patron experience by making the ticket buying and entry process more convenient."

The kiosk currently in operation is located on the Vivian Street side of DPAC. With an average transaction time of less than three minutes, the kiosk can serve hundreds of ticket buyers on event nights at DPAC and save patrons significant time with ticket purchases and pick-up.
