Toto, we made it to Kansas!

Last night, I had the amazing opportunity to see Kansas at DPAC. Before the show started, I was able to volunteer as an elevator attendant. I was paired up with another DPAC volunteer, Marc, who is one of the nicest guys I have ever met. He was so patient and helpful, teaching me everything I needed to know in order to give guests the best possible service.

When you think of an elevator attendant, you may think, "Oh yeah, they're the ones that call the elevator for you." Last night, I did call the elevator a lot, but I also learned that at DPAC, the elevator attendant does so much more. They help tell you where your seats are located, where you can find merchandise, and most importantly, they help make getting on the elevator a pleasant experience. Whenever the elevator was taking an especially long time, Marc would crack a joke to the guests waiting, bringing a smile to their faces. My favorite of the night was, "Toto, I don't think we're in Kansas anymore." Referencing this famous line from the Wizard of Oz was a great play on the event that night and left guests chuckling as the elevator doors closed. That joke was just one of many, so if you want to hear more, make sure to go to a future DPAC event and find Marc. Just tell him Alyssa sent you.
