Moulin Rouge Blog

On May 3rd, I returned to DPAC as an ambassador for the opening night of the hit musical Moulin Rouge. I got to volunteer at the community table and then watch one of the most entertaining and visually-stunning shows that I’ve ever seen. It was a truly incredible night.

To start out the night, me and my fellow ambassadors (Lizzy, Jack, and Pilar) volunteered at the community table, where we gave people opportunities to enter a raffle, in which they had the chance to win two free tickets to a DPAC event, free VIP parking, and free access to the President’s Club.

While working the community table, we also told tons of people about the upcoming DPAC event called Triangle Rising Stars. In Triangle Rising Stars, which will be hosted by Clay Aiken, the best of this year’s high school performers are given the chance to compete for awards. You won’t want to miss the opportunity to witness the future of Broadway while they're still young!

IS THAT THE SET OF MOULIN ROUGE?!?!? OH MY GOD!!!!!

Anyway, when I was done volunteering, I got to see Moulin Rouge! This musical was unlike any other musical that I have ever seen. The songs were medleys of popular music from all different genres and decades, including songs by Elton John, The Beatles, Talking Heads, Lady Gaga, Queen, Katy Perry, and infinitely more! The only things more awe-inspiring than the acting in this spectacular love story were the extravagance of the sets and the insanity of the lighting, which kept this musical true to the original style of the film, and made it breathtakingly magical.

Fans of musical theatre NEED to get tickets to this performance of a lifetime. Enjoy the show!

Until next time!
