John Cleese Ambassador Blog

By Ipsi

This Sunday the self-proclaimed barely living legend himself, John Cleese, gave Durham
Performing Arts Center a visit and I had the pleasure of being able to watch the show and help
out the DPAC staff before it. My pre-show responsibility as an ambassador was Guest Services.
Guest services are responsible for handling most of the Guest’s needs in case they need a
band-aid, a rubber band for their John Cleese posters, or help with knowing where to go. Many
guests at this show requested for special devices that helped them hear the comedy set. The
way they worked was that these devices would connect with the DPAC sound system and then
play it directly into the attached headphones to ensure every one of our guests could enjoy the
show.

If you have yet to hear of John Cleese, you are in for a treat! He is an eight-four-year-old
British actor, comedian, producer, and screenwriter. I recognized him from Monty Python and
the Holy Grail, but you may have caught him in Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone or Shrek
2. John Cleese has won many awards for his brilliant work and risky humor and the latter is
something he reflects upon within the comedy set. John Cleese takes a trip down memory lane
through multiple steps in his entertainment journey and reflects upon them throughout the show.
The second half of the show consists of a question-and-answer section where he answers
questions from the audience. Thank you so much to John Cleese to taking the time to visit
DPAC and we hope to see you again sometime soon!
