Amazing Moments at DPAC Ticketing and Trey Kennedy
Blog & Vlog By: Micaela La Serna
My name is Micaela La Serna, and on February 15th, I had the pleasure of shadowing the DPAC ticketing staff, and got to see Trey Kennedy on The Relatable Tour. These hard workers have the biggest hearts ever, and I loved hearing about their experiences and their unique interactions with guests and how their experiences are like working in ticketing.

One of the staff members favorite customers was a grandmother who brought her granddaughter to see The Cursed Child when it came here on tour. She asked to see multiple seats to choose the perfect spot for her and her granddaughter. He told me, “we have the ability to change people's lives.” He ended the story by telling me that the granddaughter made him a card, with a drawing of Harry and Ron, and it said 2026 on the front of the card. The thing that made it stand out the most was that the six was backwards, and that is the same way that his son also wrote his sixes. It is so amazing to see how shows bring people together in more ways than one.

Another staff member told me that, “Everything we do is all about a ticket, to go see a show…but it’s huge, when you really think about it.” While a lot of people may think that a ticket is such a small thing, it creates new memories with families and friends, and makes relationships stronger and can reshape how people view the world. She also told me that she enjoyed helping people out, and being able to give back and make the customers happy and have less stress on them makes her feel very fulfilled.

When I was there, I also met someone who was on the national tour of the show, The Color Purple. As someone who wants to pursue musical theater, I was ecstatic. He told me about how it was like working a part time job at DPAC, and to sum it up, it is great! He told me that, “it is encouraging to see that the shows are still coming through…and I have friends in the shows that are coming through... it also shows that we are regular people too.” He really inspired me to keep going and know that while theater can lead to many different paths and it can be unpredictable, no matter where you end up, you can still change people's lives, no matter where that may be.
