Festive Playbill Distribution with ELF the Musical

This week I was fortunate to see Elf the Musical as an Ambassador on Opening Night.

My shift of playbill distribution began with a pre-show meeting attended by select ambassadors, showstoppers and a plethora of volunteers where we discussed the plans for the evening and met our shadow assignments.

I was accompanied by DPAC volunteer, Steve, who was a knowledgeable, quick witted, and amusing individual. Together, we observed a wide range of attendees while handing out playbills, with my personal favorite being the multi-generational families excited to watch the show. While passing out playbills, it was interesting to see the different reactions of attendees - some guests immediately opened it eager to learn about the performers, while others were more reserved and just happy to have it as a souvenir. Steve and I made sure to pay special attention to the youth in our distribution as we could tell it made them feel important and included having their own. I enjoyed inquiring what people were looking forward to and responses varied from just spending quality time with family to simply getting in the holiday spirit; something that could be seen both on stage and in the audience with all of the festive holiday clothing and the interactive photobooth in the lobby.

Before I knew it, the doors were being closed by Showstoppers signifying the show would begin soon so I quickly grabbed a perfectly golden warm pretzel and made my way to the box to join fellow Ambassadors.  With themes of family, connection, discovering identity, and the magic of Christmas, ELF The Musical is a must see this Holiday season. This is evident by the special effects, crisp vocals, creative costumes, and incredible actors. Once the show ended, there was one thing I knew for certain -  the audience loved it as I couldn't help but overhear the raving reviews as guests were leaving and the multitude of people who expressed they would even watch it again. I wholeheartedly agree.
