Dan and Phil’s Box Office Experience

Blog By: Jack Mulley

This past Tuesday, I got to experience working in the box office at Dan and Phil at DPAC. When I got there, the line for merch was crazy!

As I checked in, I was able to head up to the President’s Club to attend the preshow meeting. Here, we talked about how packed the theatre would be. There were only about one hundred seats still left unpurchased.

After the meeting, we were all dispersed to our different locations. I was sent to the ticketing offices where I was introduced to everyone and got to learn what everyone’s roles were. Everyone in the ticketing department was so lovely and fun to be around! At one point, they let me do all of the willcall tickets, where I would find someone’s name and give them their printed tickets. I think the funnest part was talking to all of the people because they all had great senses of humor!

Once the show started, I was very impressed with the immersive experience. It wasn’t two people on stage just telling stories, they included inside jokes and their show had an actual story. Even though the show was built around a specific audience, they kept newcomers in the loop too, explaining what was happening. Both of them were very funny and I am glad I saw this show!

It was fun to see everyone working together in the ticket booth, and it was an honor to see Dan and Phil perform live. I have a better understanding of how the ticket booth works at DPAC.
