The Light for Days Tour: How Jacob Collier Utilizes the Audience as an Instrument

On October 21, 2026 I had the pleasure of attending Jacob Collier’s final show at DPAC. The concert was part of The Light for Days Tour.
When I arrived at DPAC I signed in and then attended the pre-show meeting with the other ambassadors and the rest of the DPAC staff and volunteers. After the meeting I shadowed the Ticketing Department, where I was responsible for handing out will call tickets to customers. I got to sit in the ticket booth and talk with those working in the booth and both hear and see what it’s like working in Ticketing at DPAC for an event.

This was my first time ever seeing Jacob Collier perform live and I truly cannot even put into words how incredible the whole concert was. The way he was able to perform one song where each hand and foot was playing a different instrument in sync was incredible!
Without a doubt, my favorite part of the whole concert was Jacob Collier’s ability to conduct the audience and make them their own instrument. It was insane to me how he would play a chord progression on his guitar, look at a section of the audience (who I assume are most likely not professional singers) and say “sing this” and they would! I thought it was so interesting how he would have each section of the house sing slightly different notes, yet it all sounded so beautiful when all the voices and harmonies would blend together.
There was one moment where Jacob Collier had each section of the house create different sounds such as whistling, snapping, or stomping their feet. When each section made their own noises all together, it sounded exactly like you were outside in nature. It was so surreal to witness in person.

As someone who had never been to a Jacob Collier concert before this ambassador shift, I would absolutely attend another concert of his. I was so mesmerized throughout the entire concert and it’s safe to say that Jacob Collier now has a new fan!
