Guiding Guests During A Magical Cirque Christmas

Blog By: Khya Rounds

My time at DPAC for A Magical Cirque Christmas was really fun and interesting. The whole building felt busy, and it was cool to see how everything works during such a popular holiday show. Being there before the audience arrived helped me understand how much preparation goes on behind the scenes to make everything run smoothly. Even though I wasn’t backstage, I still got to experience the energy and excitement of the show from the front side.

I shadowed the lobby map area, which meant I watched how staff guide guests, and keep the lobby flowing. I learned how important communication is between ushers, how the layout helps prevent crowding, and how workers help people who are confused or have questions. It showed me that the lobby team is a huge part of making the whole DPAC experience feel organized and friendly.

The show itself seemed magical based on the music, decorations, and crowd reactions. You could hear people laughing, cheering, and getting excited during big circus tricks, which made the atmosphere feel lively. My favorite part of the experience was watching the lobby change as more guests arrived and seeing how smoothly the staff worked together. I also liked being around all the holiday energy and seeing how excited everyone was to watch the show.
